Welcome to the JUMP Website!

The Joint Urban Ministry Project, Inc., known as JUMP, is an interfaith ministry to assist individuals and families in crisis.

JUMP helps with emergency assistance, spiritual care, referrals, and advocacy for persons with low incomes. JUMP operates each weekday morning at First Congregational Church in Burlington, Vermont serving individuals and families in Chittenden County and occasionally those in nearby counties.

The Charlotte Congregational Church is one of the twenty-four Chittenden county churches that support this mission with money and volunteer support.

IF YOU NEED HELP

JUMP is open weekday mornings, above the chapel at the First Congregational Church of Burlington, directly across South Winooski Avenue from Rite Aid Pharmacy.

Visiting JUMP

  • JUMP operates a drop-in center offering emergency assistance.
  • JUMP is open Monday through Friday. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., but clients begin arriving much earlier. JUMP closes at noon.
  • JUMP provides direct assistance to a limited number of clients per day, on a first-come, first-served basis. If JUMP cannot help, the staff will try to refer you to another agency.
  • You will have to wait. It is best to come on a day when you have no morning appointment or other commitment. Free beverages and snacks are available while you wait.
  • Please bring identification for yourself and all members of your household.
  • Service decisions at JUMP are made without regard to the client’s race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, age, marital or domestic or civil union status, national origin, sexual orientation, place of birth, citizenship, mental ability, or physical ability.
